Midwifery-Led Maternity Care in Palo Alto: What To Expect at Millie Together With El Camino Health

Millie Palo Alto, our new midwifery-led maternity clinic, opens in early December 2026 together with El Camino Health. We built it to bring individualized, evidence-based care to Palo Alto and the surrounding South Bay, so you feel cared for before, during, and after birth.
If you're pregnant, or planning to be, you have more choices than you might think. Here's what midwifery-led care is, how a visit at Millie is different, and how your care works between our clinic and El Camino Health.
What midwifery-led, OB-supported care means
In midwifery-led care, a midwife is your primary clinician through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They take the time to listen, explain, and make decisions with you, so you always know your options and have a real say in your care.
"OB-supported" means obstetricians are on your team from day one. If your needs change or your pregnancy becomes more complex, your midwife brings in an OB-GYN to co-manage your care, and you never have to start over with a new practice. Our belief is simple: everyone needs a midwife, some people need an OB-GYN too, and everyone should have access to both.
What a visit at Millie looks like
Care at Millie goes above and beyond typical maternity care, with more time with your team and more support between visits. Research has linked midwife involvement in pregnancy care to fewer unnecessary medical interventions and higher patient satisfaction. Here's what that looks like:
- Care starts early. Begin as soon as you find out you're pregnant, with longer and more frequent appointments.
- A doula on your team. Every patient is paired with a Millie Guide, a practicing doula who meets with you each trimester to plan your birth preferences and postpartum needs. They're also there for your questions between visits through the Millie app.
- Support between visits. Reach your care team by phone 24/7. The Millie app has evidence-based resources for every stage, and remote monitoring, like a blood pressure cuff, helps us catch concerns early.
- Your care team at your birth. Your Millie team is with you at El Camino Health - Mountain View Hospital when you deliver.
- Postpartum care that keeps going. Three postpartum visits, including one at your home, plus weekly drop-in office hours.
- Classes and specialists. Workshops that prepare you for birth and parenthood, plus lactation consultants, nutritionists, and therapists whenever you need extra support.
Visits in Los Altos, birth at El Camino Health - Mountain View Hospital
You'll see your Millie team for prenatal and postpartum visits at our clinic, and you'll give birth at El Camino Health - Mountain View Hospital. We're named Millie Palo Alto because we serve Palo Alto families. You'll find us at 4300 El Camino Real, Suite 201, in Los Altos, near Palo Alto.
Our two teams work as one. Your midwife is your primary clinician, and OB-GYNs co-manage your care whenever you need more. If a cesarean section or another intervention is needed, El Camino OB-GYNs perform it.
Together, we're pairing Millie's midwifery-led model with El Camino Health's nationally recognized maternity services, for one connected experience from pregnancy through postpartum.
