Millie Doula Coaching 1:1: What a Session Actually Covers

Millie Guides are experienced doulas who offer personalized sessions tailored to your needs, whether that's talking through your birth preferences, learning comfort techniques for labor, or planning for postpartum recovery. Here's what to expect if you book one.

Choose your focus area

Each session runs 40 minutes and is built around one of three topics. Picking your focus ahead of time means your doula comes prepared to guide you through it, rather than spending part of the session figuring out what you need.

Induction Preparation. If an induction is on the horizon, this session walks through what to expect, your options at each step, and how to build a plan that helps you feel calm and ready going in.

Birth Preferences Planning. You'll work one-on-one with a doula to explore your options, understand what's actually available at your hospital, and put your birth preferences together in a way that reflects what matters to you.

Postpartum Planning. This session focuses on your recovery, your support system, and your self-care, so you go into the early weeks after birth feeling resourced rather than caught off guard.

What makes it different from a regular appointment

These sessions aren't a clinical visit, and they're not a class either. A few things set them apart:

  • They're tailored to you. The conversation moves at your pace and centers on what's actually on your mind, not a fixed script.
  • They're led by experts. Your Millie Guide is an experienced doula who specializes in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, so you're getting guidance grounded in real training and hands-on experience.
  • They're a space you can trust. Whether you're an established Millie patient or brand new to the clinic, your doula will give you clear, practical guidance you can actually use.
  • The conversation doesn't have to end at 40 minutes. If you're a Millie patient, you can keep the conversation going and ask follow-up questions anytime through the Millie app.

What you'll walk away with

By the end of your session, you can expect:

  • Clear, specific information about the topic you chose
  • A written plan or next steps, whether that's for your induction, your birth preferences, or your postpartum recovery
  • Space to talk through any fears or questions with someone experienced and nonjudgmental
  • Tools and resources curated to what you actually need, not a generic handout
