Millie and UCSF Health Expand Access to Coordinated, Technology-Enabled Maternity Care in Northern California
Millie, the tech-enabled women’s health clinic, announced a partnership with UCSF Health, as the company continues to expand access to high-quality pregnancy, birth and postpartum care in collaboration with leading health systems. Millie has joined UCSF Health’s clinically integrated network, creating seamless care experiences for patients that combine Millie's distinctive midwifery-led, technology-enabled maternity care model with UCSF Health's world-class expertise when more specialized care is needed.
Millie and UCSF Health share a commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Under this partnership, Millie and UCSF providers will work together as a clinically integrated care team with shared protocols and unified technology platforms to provide more comprehensive care throughout the pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey, and ongoing gynecology care needs. The collaboration will initially focus on serving families in the East Bay with UCSF Medical Foundation’s Women’s Group, with future plans to expand to other communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
“We started Millie because families deserve a better maternity care experience, and partnering with leading health systems who share our values is key to making that vision a reality," said Anu Sharma, Founder and CEO of Millie. "UCSF Health has long been an institution my own family trusts for care and several of Millie’s clinical leaders have trained there, so this partnership is especially meaningful to us. Together, we're combining our complementary strengths to make high-quality, coordinated maternity care more accessible for families in the Bay Area.”
“The best maternity care happens when every member of the care team is working collaboratively around the patient," said Talia Borgo, CNM, WHNP, Co-Founder and Clinical Director at Millie and UCSF-trained nurse-midwife who previously served on the faculty. "This collaboration enables our midwives and UCSF clinicians to work as one coordinated team throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Families benefit from the continuity of a trusted care team while knowing specialized expertise is immediately available whenever it's needed.”
Millie's technology-enabled maternity care model is built around midwifery-led prenatal visits, 24/7 virtual support and a collaborative team that includes midwives, OB-GYNs and specialists. Integrated services including lactation support, mental health care and robust postpartum support including a home visit — extend care well beyond traditional prenatal appointments. Designed around the needs of modern families, the model has delivered strong clinical outcomes while creating a more personalized, patient-centered maternity experience.
The UCSF Health collaboration represents Millie's latest step in scaling its model through partnerships with leading health systems. Backed by clinical outcomes that outperform national benchmarks — including lower cesarean birth, NICU admission, preterm birth and low birthweight rates — Millie is expanding access to its technology-enabled, midwifery-led approach while working alongside health systems to reshape how maternity care is delivered nationwide.
